Faculty Instructions for Submitting a SuperUROP Project (please change "eecs" to your dept where appropriate!)

This website is being updated for 2025-2026.

Last year's video from the Info Session: useful but not up-to-date.

Students:

At this time the EECS Department has confirmed that they will participate in the SuperUROP Program and provide funding to most of their students working with EECS faculty. If you, an EECS student, are choosing a supervisor in another department, you may need to have a co-supervisor on the EECS faculty, to facilitate your eligibility for funding.

The CEE Department has confirmed that they expect to support a limited number of SuperUROP students for 2025-2026. The CEE Department SuperUROP students can come from any department as long as they are doing their SuperUROP research for a professor in the CEE Department.

The ChemE Department has confirmed that they expect to support a limited number of SuperUROP students for 2025-2026. Please note that the ChemE deadlines are later: Monday June 2 for intent and Monday June 23 for proposal.

The MechE Department expects to participate in the SuperUROP Program and provide funding to some students working with MechE faculty. Please note that the deadlines may be different (later) for MechE.

The HEALS Collaborative has indicated that they expect to support up to 10 SuperUROP students in the fields of health and life sciences for 2025-2026. Please note that the HEALS deadlines are later: Monday June 2 for intent and Monday June 23 for proposal.

The MGAIC MIT Generative AI Impact Consortium, has indicated that they expect to support up to 10 SuperUROP students in the field of Generative Artificial Intelligence for 2025-2026. Please note that the MGAIC deadlines are later: Monday June 9 for intent and Monday June 23 for proposal.

We hope that the AeroAstro Department Department will participate in SuperUROP for 2025-2026, with the potential of providing departmental SuperUROP funding for the research component. We will update this statement when/if these opportunities materialize.

The MIT option is for students who are not in the listed departments. In this case, it is unlikely that there will be departmental SuperUROP funding. There is possibly funding from your supervisor (at a rate you negotiate with your supervisor) or from the UROP office (at below the SuperUROP rate) or you can earn credit for the research component.

Please click on the appropriate department below to get started.

The deadline for intent is Friday, April 4th. (for most departments)
Did you miss the deadline for intent? It's not too late! Please go ahead and submit your intent!

The deadline for the proposal is Monday, April 28th. (for most departments)
